Sant Pere Pescador is located at the mouth of the river Fluvià, surrounded by beautiful farmland and coastal scenery. Here you will find many orchards and flowering embankments. The old center has conserved its traditional architecture and is home to small traditional restaurants serving regional cuisine, as well as all shops for daily needs. As it is an old fishing town, of course you can still buy fresh fish every day. In summer, the fruit and vegetables come from the surrounding gardens and fields. Every Wednesday morning there is a market held under the plane trees on the riverside. Here you will find fruit and vegetables, meats and local cheeses, as well as cheap textiles and leather goods.
The beach is easily accessible by car, on foot or by bicycle.
It has a length of 6.3 km and is amazingly wide. Even in high season it never feels crowded. It is a perfect place for windsurfing and kite surfing, sailing, catamaran boating, renting kayaks or playing beach volleyball. Around Sant Pere Pescador, there are many cycling routes. It is easy to fall in love with the bird reserve Aigüamolls de l'Empordà, with its lagoons and stork colonies, in direct vicinity of the town.
Sometimes one can even see flamingos there. Sant Pere Pescador has some nice housing developments near the sea and the river. Here you will find holiday villas in southern flair and small holiday homes for family vacations. Some of the houses are inhabited year-round by residents from all over Europe. In the summer Sant Pere Pescador is very multicultural. Not far from town, there are several international camping sites with very good facilities.
