The municipality of Pontós is located in a small valley in which the regional rivers Muga and Fluvià flow together. It is situated idyllically in the midst of fields, right behind Bàscara and close to Figueres.
In the surroundings of the municipality, agriculture as well as cattle breeding and field cultivation are carried on.
The municipal district borders on Ordis and Borrassà in the north, on Garrigàs in the east, on Bàscara and Vilademuls in the south, and on Navata in the west. The village Romanyà d’Empordà was incorporated into the area of Pontós.
The archaeological place “Mas Castellar de Pontós“ is of historic significance as there have been discoveries of important finds from the 6th century.
A hiking trail passes through the village, meaning that sometimes you come across trippers making their way to the lookout tower “Torre d’Angel“.
The houses are partly restored beautifully, and a small restaurant offering great regional cuisine invites hikers or tourists to have a glass of wine and a delicious lunch.
Plants grow down the houses and reach the street, and thanks to the silence around the village, one can hear the bees buzzing.
In the surroundings of Pontós, one can discover many beautiful catalan farms with restored stone walls and gardens reminding of parks.
Here, one can easily find perfect residences for the summer, the freetime or a healthy life in the country close to the most beautiful beaches of the Costa Brava.
