The former fishing village L’Estartit is locatet at the crossing of a rocky steep coast and a 10km long fine sandy beach. This beach can be found in the lowland plain of the river Ter which flows into the Mediterranean Sea 208km southern the village.
The village had been a distinctive fishing village until the 19th century. Since 1970 it has developed into a frequently visited vacation destination with its own marina.
The archipelago Illes Medes is situated off the village, which is a nature reserve that is mostly known by divers. Considering that it is located in the Mediterranean Sea, it has an unbelievable underwater flora and fauna.
