Avinyonet de Puigventós is located close to Figueres in the midst of the forests of the Empordà and right before Cistella. It towers above the street, meaning that one has to climb up those many steps to reach the city centre.
Here, modern style meets tradition. Massive, typical catalan stone houses stand in line with huge glass façades and beautiful courtyards.
When going for a walk around the village, it quickly becomes obvious that every street leads to the town square and consequently to the centre of it - the church. The “Esglesia de Sant Esteve“ reminds of a scout tower from the Middle Ages and was built around 1300. The massive building promises protection for the inhabitants of the surrounding buildings.
Following the street beneath the city centre, one reaches another part of the village which is located on the other side of the street and offers an unblocked view over the landscape.
Without being disturbed, one can enjoy nature to the full. Nevertheless, Figueres with its hustle and bustle of the city life is only a few kilometres away.
